The advantages of an aluminum frame for a houseboats. And why we don't use a wooden or steel frame?

How long do you want your houseboat works? Most of our houseboats are bought not for private use, but for business. So reliability and practicability will be necessary. The aluminum frame means a long life and less weight of the finished item. This means that

- the houseboat will have better maneuverability;

- you can use a less powerful and less expensive motor;

- the houseboat can be loaded with an ordinary truck crane.


How long do you want your houseboat works? Most of our houseboats are bought not for private use, but for business. So reliability and practicability will be necessary. There are three materials that are used to make a houseboat frame: wood, steel and aluminum.


There are no wooden frames made of larch, it is too expensive. Usually the wooden frame is made of pine. Pine is an excellent material, but the finished item turns out to be too heavy, changing linear dimensions with temperature and humidity changes, and vulnerable at the joints. Besides, the frame is close to water, it is constantly wet, and no matter what kind of chemical protection is in place, rarely does a wooden ship frame survive intact until 6-8 years of operation. And replacing the frame implies complete disassembly of a houseboat, which is an extremely expensive operation. So wood as a frame material is not suitable for a houseboat.


The steel frame has great mechanical strength, but it weighs a lot - several times more than aluminum. In contrast to the wood frame has a stable size, but despite the protective layer of zinc, the iron frames are prone to corrosion. And their lifespan is comparable to that of a wooden frame.




The aluminum frame means a long life and less weight of the finished item. This means that

- the houseboat will have better maneuverability;

- you can use a less powerful and less expensive motor;
